Soggy and cold Mayberry

This is the driveway that we share with Amy and Jason.  That brown “pond” is normally a sleepy shallow creek that runs underneath the asphalt driveway, and empties into the lake.  The small building is the boys’ clubhouse, high and dry.

rain at home

This view is from the kids’ back deck, with our house to the R.  The cove normally has very little water in it at this time of year, with the dock sitting on the mud.  The dock is floating!  The backyard has at least 3 places that drain into the lake, but it is so wet, the backyard above the porch railing is looking like a small pond (that is a real pond in the lower R corner).

rainy backyard

These photos were sent to me by Jason yesterday.

And this is why MM and I are in Florida during the winter months:

Windy Wednesday in Paradise

The sun is shining, so the wind is fine.  Yesterday’s gray is G for Good and Gone.  iLikey!P1220146

So I am late posting this morning.  MM decided to install the mounted coffeemaker so that we can get rid of the countertop model.  We are slowly de-cluttering, always an ongoing project in small living quarters.  I had to supervise a bit, and am happy to be sitting down for a rest.  I don’t like to have my energy level zapped, but zapped it is…for now.

I am moving slow, but I’m moving around and actually have on real but comfy clothes today.  That is an accomplishment.  That’s enough work for one day, right?!

We are meeting Johnnie and Susan for pizza tonight.  I’ll be ready to get out for the company and the  food, no reflection on MM, of course!

Barb asked what I am reading while beached here.  I downloaded the Outlander series, and began re-reading the first book yesterday.  I read it many, many years ago and wanted to refresh my memory before I continued on to the second book.  That’ll keep me busy for quite awhile.  I am an admitted readaholic…and am content sitting and reading.  I always called books “armchair travels.”  Now I am blessed to both read AND travel.

Life is very good, y’all.  Stay healthy; stay happy!

Thirty-five is when you finally get your head together and your body starts falling apart. So true!!

Tuesday update

And a damp one it is, but I don't need to go anywhere and may declare it a Jammie day. Why not!

Comfy day it is.

My tummy feels as if I did a few rounds with the Great Ali, but it isn't painful...just sore. I am confident each day will be better and better. MM fetched supper last night and probably will do so again tonight. I will let him. He's a keeper.

I will do the exciting chores of bill paying and sorting mail from the comfort of the recliner. Yep, I can handle that. And read.

Those are good rainy day activities. And oversee two sleeping kitties. Wait...I have to boot Missy outta my chair first! That little sneak!

Have yourselves a great day. Do something fun and tell me about it!

Home again

All went well. Actual surgery took a whole 14 minutes. I am in no pain...just feel as if I have been punched in the belly a few times. I have Rx for pain meds, but don't plan to fill it unless absolutely needed.

I felt all the love and prayers, which helped my anxiety level to be incredibly low. Thanks!

I am enjoying a big glass of peach mango tea...and thinking a nap is gonna happen. MM is taking good care of me.

Life is good, despite moving a bit slow. Slow is fine!

Monday in paradise

flowers

And not a fun Monday either, but tomorrow is another day and it will be a good one.  I just know it.  And today will eventually be fine.

My pesky umbilical hernia will be patched today.  Bugger.  I was probably born with it; have known about it for years and it never has been a problem.  But for the past year or so it has increasing gotten tender to downright painful when I bend over, so it was time to fix it and so we shall.

Hospital arrival at 11, surgery at 1, back to the moho by 4 or 5.  Easy peasy outpatient stuff.  Or so they say.

No food or drink.  Check

No jewelry; lotions; makeup.  Check

No nail polish.  Check

Identification; iPad (for MM).  Check

Loose clothes.  Check

I will be in good hands all around, and I’m ready to git-er-done.

I’ll be moving a bit slow, but I’ll be back!

MM will be taking good care of me, along with his two assistants.  Later, y’all!

Goodbye, Breeze!

Goodbye, John!

We are now off the ship, heading to W Palm under sunny skies. Jim and Janet will be dropped at the WPB airport, Atlanta and Mayberry bound. Bugger.

It has been a great, fun week...we are already trying to figure out where the next great adventure will be. Who knows? Of course there will be one. Count on it.

Lots of catching up to get done today; and kitties to love and kids to talk with...and that pesky little surgery tomorrow.

Life is real..but it is oh so good, y'all!

Carnival Breeze - Saturday

Good overcast afternoon from Nassau!

We docked at noon, just as John's blogger farewell party was ending. MM and I are staying onboard, sitting overlooking an empty pool, enjoying music on the big screen and reading...sitting next to the Fascination and Imagination on one side of us, and that "ears" boat on the other side.

Not a great photo of me or Bee, but oh well...she and her roomies are going to the steakhouse tonight an hour earlier than our group is going--Jim and Janet, and Tal and Diane. I failed once again to get a photo of MM and me last night all dressed up. I will TRY to do better tonight. Sheesh. How hard is it to remember that?

Oh. Never mind.

This is our last day on the ship. Boy howdy has the week flown by. We have enjoyed Ron at the piano bar, and the comedy shows the most. The shows...not so much. We left on the second song at the Diva show last night. Too loud; and not so good music, so the comedian won out and was a far better choice. Bee and I both think the comedians should be in a bigger room, since there seems to be a long line to get into each show. Carnival, are you listening?

Tomorrow is back to reality...laundry and catching up on what everyone has been doing while we've been cruising. I am looking forward to the catching up part, and hope everyone has had a good week. We sure have.

Life is good, y'all!

Carnival Breeze - Friday cruising

After a huge dinner with Jim and Janet at Cucina del Capitano last night, we opted to call it a day and head to our room to relax. Unfortunately at 9p the intercom came on in the room...never good news. A guest needed immediate medical attention...yes, the second time this cruise, so we were heading to San Juan to off load.

During the Q&A for the bloggers with John, the captain, and the senior engineer, we learned that the patient is doing well...and learned quite a bit about the chain of command and the decisions and instant planning it takes for these unscheduled stops. Carnival does an excellent job of taking care of these emergencies, whether it be guest or crew. Kudos to Carnival and their Care Team!

Jim asked about a tour of the laundry facilities and was told this was a first such request. Sure...why not! The four of us have a private look-see shortly to see how our clothes got clean yesterday and to check out where another bag will go tomorrow.

We have tea @ 3 with John, then our final elegant night. Hopefully, we will remember to get a photo of us all scrubbed and clean. We forgot the other night, but I have plenty of photos I could have recycled, had I brought my computer. Yes, the same duds go on all cruises. No tuxes; no formals...just plain stuff that travel well. And yes, I left the computer. Our kids will be amazed at that.

I can be re-trained. Using the iPad exclusively hasn't been too bad.

So we are back on course, heading into Nassau on time tomorrow for a short stay. That is fine with us. We'll probably just stay onboard.

We visited with Empress Bee and her travel companion yesterday afternoon in the lobby. Bee hasn't gotten off the ship at all. See, we aren't the only ones who do that!

Carnival Breeze - Thursday

Another beautiful day in paradise! Good morning from Tortola, a new port for us, as was yesterday.

The four fouls had a delightful two-hour taxi ride around the SWEET portion of Antigua, which is Spanish for ancient. We saw some relatively ancient buildings, and a lot of colorful homes and businesses. More photos after we return home.

We have to be back onboard by 3, so the plan today is a shortened version of yesterday's tour.

Upon return to the ship, we have Carnival's Platinum party to attend. Tonight, we are having dinner with Jim and Janet at the Cucina del Capitano, which is supposed to be entirely different from the lunches there.

Reading in the shade by the pool, listening to music, is a fine way to wait before going ashore. Tomorrow is a sea day, then Nausea, um, Nassau...then back to reality. The week is flying by.

Oh, the Latin Lights show last night was pretty good. I miss the live band though, but I suppose using sound tracks and computer background glitz will save money. The dancers, eight of them, all sing (supposedly) and dance. There is a small combo with singer that plays in the plaza at intervals, but no big band. Changes, changes. They are playing around with dining room stuff as well...different opening times, no opening times...a breakfast brunch. We roll with the changes, but don't have to like them.

The bloggers special super star show was a hoot yesterday. John and Calvyn sang a duet that will undoubtedly embarrass them for years on YouTube and Facebook!

Life is just as good as you make it, and so we make it good and even occasionally great! WYWH, y'all!!!

Carnival Breeze - Wednesday

But first, let me tell y'all about last night's dinner. There was an opening at the Chef's Table with Executive Chef Joaquim Rosario Dias, so John got us in there as part of our freebie package, rather than having to wait for a future cruise. It was awesome!

Twelve lucky diners were met by the chef in the lobby and escorted back to the galley, where we first sampled some scrumptious starters before moving back for a galley tour, complete with a demonstration by the pastry chef on making Carnival's signature chocolate melting cake. I wanted to lick the bowl...but managed to contain myself.

We had course after course of fabulous food, ending with Chocolate "88F" for dessert and a complimentary group photo. Afterward, we waddled out and sat with Jim and Janet, listening to our fave piano bar guy Ron Pass play some tunes ahead of the evening's juggling show. A very fine day indeed.

So this morning we woke up to a bit of rain, but now the sun is shining...we will meet Jim and Janet for lunch, then go ashore and hire a taxi for an island tour. It is only 108 square miles, so we shall see the highlights and learn a bit about the island.

Have a wonderful Wednesday. We sure will!

Carnival Breeze - St. Thomas

If it is Tuesday, it must be St. Thomas.

It is sunny and warm for our walkabout with Jim and Janet. The guys split from us. Go figure. Jim is on a mission to find a pin to fix his watch. Good luck with that. MM will probably get a bottle if rum or two.

Free AT&T phone service here for me, so I am catching up a bit. I learned it was 20 back in Mayberry this morning, which explains why we head south every winter. Brr.

We all tried the Indian food bar on the ship before heading out and were happy not to be paying extra for it. It was just a tad too spicey, for the most part. Now tonight MM and I will be experiencing something special.

Tomorrow, St. Johns, Antigua. Stay tuned.

The Breeze is a beautiful ship, and we are having a great time. What's not to love, other than 'picey food? Not much!

Life is good. WYWH, y'all!

Carnival Breeze - Day 3

Sea day. It is now just after 3p, John just finished his funny Marriage Show, and it is raining. We are back in the cabin, rather than going out by the pool. Bugger.

The morning started off with John and Calvyn doing a special morning show exclusively for the bloggers, which is always funny. These were our gifts left in the cabin last night that all the bloggers are getting:

Nice! John and Carnival are good to their loyal followers. John even gave Empress Bee a special gift and acknowledgement about this being her first bloggers cruise without her sweet Sarge. My iPad photo isn't great, unfortunately. She does look mighty good, that is for sure!

MM and I were both underwhelmed with the new show, The Brits, last night. The music was good, but the background cartoon animation was too flashy and less interesting than good staging, in our humble opinion. Comedian Al Ernst is funny...always. We enjoyed his show.

Tomorrow we will be in St. Thomas. We will get off the ship and poke around. We've been there many times, so we are not doing any excursions. We will make it fun.

The corn hole on this ship is a "shoot out." We played it yesterday, with only one board, and it isn't as interesting as a normal game is, so we didn't even participate today.

We are still enjoying the ship, meeting new folks, and having fun with our old friends. And enjoying the fruit basket and chocolate covered strawberries that John sent us.

Life is good on the high seas, y'all. WYWH!

Carnival Breeze, Day 2 - Sunday surprise

Good sunny afternoon!

Thus far our cruise has been quite lovely with our blogging buddies...all 600 of them.

John (Carnival's senior cruise director)hosted a Welcome Aboard party for the 600 shortly after setting sail yesterday. We have special lanyards with a tag on them to label the bloggers. This gives us entrance to the special functions. Raffle tickets were sold to benefit St. Jude's Children's Hospital, and MM bought a few tickets. All proceeds were being matched by Carnival Corporation.

During the Q & A with John and side kick Calvyn for the bloggers this morning, we didn't win any of the special goodies and we thought it was all over. John stated that he had one more item to be given away. Someone had donated a substantial amount of money to the cause, and John called out the ticket number in Dick's hand. I didn't even know he had done that. This guy can still surprise me after all these years. Over $3,000 was raised, and Carnival is matching that. Kudos to Carnival! It is an excellent cause.

We one a package on a FUTURE cruise for a dinner at the steakhouse, the captain's table, John's famous fruit basket, and we are not sure what, if anything, else. We were surprised and quite pleased, of course. Dick had to go up front to shake John's hand, and he explained to the crowd that he since we had been blessed with 3 healthy children and 4 healthy grandchildren that he simply felt led to increase our annual donation to St. Jude's, with CCL matching what we spent. It was a win-win for the hospital.

Booking a future cruise will be a fun research job for MM for sure. That's his cute leg up there. Empress Bee was sitting way over to the L, not in the photo. I did deliver hugs to her yesterday as requested. There is less to hug now! She looks great.

This afternoon we had tea time with John. There are several activities planned over the week. Tonight is elegant night, with photos with John ahead of time. We may or may not do that.

There was a medical emergency early this morning, so we had a brief unscheduled stop in Nassau to off load the ill passenger and his wife.

Other than that, it has been smooth sailing and blue skies. We hope for a continued good week. Tomorrow is another sea day, then lovely St. Thomas. And free phone service.

Life is good, y'all!

This is Bloggers Cruise 6, and we will be sailing with our most favorite cruise director and lots of blogging friends to the Eastern Caribbean for this next week.

I will be blogging as I can, so come along and share this amazing adventure with us.

Thank you house sitters, and kitty sitter.  I think everything is in place, but I need to go check my list and load up the last minute stuff.

Have yourselves a great day.  Go out and have some fun.  Life is too short not to enjoy it!

Ciao for now, y’all.  We’re heading to the Lido Deck!!!

One more sleep!

Suitcases are now on the bed, and KC is our lovely, um, handsome assistant for the packing task.

If it isn't here in the Moho, it isn't going with us. Unfortunately I left a couple of my fave flip flops back home...and I need them! Oh well, I'll adjust somehow.

A cool front moved through here, making MM have to put on jeans this morning. I know those of you in snow feel our pain. I know...Come join us on the cruise. It will be warm for sure! And fun. Lots of friends will be joining us. There is always room for more.

So I have printed out my to-do list to get ta-done today. Check

Kitty sitter. Check

Charge electronics. Check

Laundry is calling. Gotta get busy.

Have yourselves a fabulous Friday.

Remember: he who hesitates is probably right!

Sitting and waiting

I did a lot of that yesterday, first waiting for blood to be drawn (routine stuff), then getting my hair cut, and other running around.

The first wait for today was at a surgeon's office to discuss a wee repair that needs to be done on this body of mine, an umbilical hernia. Bee, he was great! Thanks for the referral. Now I am waiting at the hospital to get registered for the outpatient repair. Ugh. It's gotta get done, so it shall get done. Right after the cruise. I wonder if the doc can remove any excess cruise pounds?!

That's my news, my friends.

I will have a great day here in beautiful paradise. I hope you will, too!

Life is fabulous!

Whose sleeping in my bed?

Thank goodness Missy doesn't mind sharing her fave bed.

She moved to her windshield bed, next to the vacant KC bed, bless her heart. Good sister.

So yesterday I saw a local doc and got on meds so I will be well for the cruise. Sinus infection. I haz it, and my throat hasn't been happy. Drugs to the rescue...working their magic. My throat is better this morning. Check.

A hair cut is in my near future, then I will get in serious cruise mode. Four more sleeps!

Stay healthy and use hand sanitizer. That's your PSA for today!

Settling in

MM has had a busy morning, trimming palm fronds, setting up tables and chairs, airing up bike tires, and now washing the windshield so he can put up the outside shades. Whew! I am keeping him hydrated while doing my own inside work.

I got the better end of the chore division!

That would be laundry, cleaning, filing, check writing. I prefer the "pink" duties over the "blue" jobs. Who wants to sweat? Not me!

Tea or lemonade, dear? I can feel the temp difference already with the windshield now getting covered. It makes a huge difference, believe me. MM is grateful for the winds today while he is outside working...and sweating.

It feels good to be back in WPB...it is sunny and beautiful. Empress Bee, we shall see you soon!

Share some smiles today. It is the beginning of a brand new, unused week. Make it a great one!

Sunday and rolling

Just as soon as I got the recliner locked into place, KC jumped down from the window bed and loaded into place. He knows the drill...and his hiding spot. And is being a good boy.

We said our goodbyes at the continental breakfast this morning, learning that yet another couple is aging out of the club and selling their Moho. Sad, but God willing, MM and I have quite a few more good traveling years left on us.

Harriet and Norm enjoyed our marbles game so much they are going to get their own! Norm and I want another chance to redeem our winning position, so a grudge match is on! And no, Harri did not have her hand actually ON MM's hiney in the photo yesterday. Norm did indeed give him bunny ears that were hard to see. All in good fun.

So this bright Sunday morning we are eastbound and down, heading to I-95, which will take us to W Palm Beach...finally! And the approaching cruise! Woohoo!!! Got lots to do this week.

Life is good. Miles and smiles, y'all! Have yourself a great day.

Moving on

After our lunch and nice visit with long time friend Bob, we saw this blimp on the way back to the Moho on a lovely day:

So this morning we are stowing and going. The RV rally begins up the road in Silver Springs, so we've gotta get a move on, and then undo all we just did. We each have our jobs, so it is pretty routine to us by now.

Come along. Many good things are planned for the rally. Y'all don't wanna miss out.

Miles and smiles here in paradise! New adventures await us...and more friends.

Tuesday in WG

Sunny and 66, but my sweet assistant is busy ironing my clean jeans, thankyouverymuch:

Now if he could get to MM's two shirts, I could hang them up and be done. My combo w/d wrinkles clothes quite well. I am discovering I need to let them tumble for awhile, then hang up and let air dry. It is a learning and timing curve.

Moho laundry lesson du jour.

So we are heading down near Sea World to meet friend Bob for lunch, then dinner plans later with Don, Carolyn, Tom and Dixie.

Karen fed us well last night, but isn't playing the piano any more so we didn't get any tunes. Bugger. It was great seeing her.

We are eating and visiting our days away and loving it. The only thing wrong with this picture is leaving family and friends way back home. Life is all about balance.

And life is good, y'all! I hope you agree with me. Smiles!!!

Monday in WG

Monday means laundry, which goes in no matter where we are. It rained last night and cooled down the temps, bringing back the long pants today, poor us.

Dinner plans got changes last night to nephew Scott and Holly's house. It was great seeing them and their two cutie pies, but did I even think about a photo? Shame on me. Tonight a good friend of Carolyn is cooking dinner for the four of us. Wine is on our shopping list today.

The CG only has wifi up at the office. This is definitely a no frills park, but there is always a spot available during the busy winter season. We adjust, wherever we are. That is part of traveling, especially camping. And the kitties don't care! Missy is in my chair; KC is under it.

Sunny Sunday

We don't know where the predicted rain is, but we are not complaining!

Good sunny morning from Winter Garden. We met Dick's sister Carolyn, hubby Don, and several of their friends for breakfast after church this morning. I have Cuban Pork to take over to their house for dinner and a visit later.

It is about 70; we have windows open, the front door open, and two kitties on the steps looking out through the screen door...wishing they could go outside! MM changed from jeans to shorts and a tee shirt. Yeah baby. Sw-eeet!

We will be here until Wednesday morning, so laundry is now going on.

That's life in the Sunshine State, with a little football thrown in.

Who is playing??? Or watching?

Happy Sunday, y'all!

Heading further south

And saying so long to sweet friends, Wade and Ginger:

Wade grilled redfish with New Orleans rub on it last night. Delish! We taught them the marbles (Aggravation) game last night, and they both played well.

Earlier, we drove over to St. George Island and Apalachicola, stopping and looking through a local "junk" shop before enjoying a seafood lunch. My oyster stew was excellent, loaded with tasty garlic. And butter. Yum. Did I mention that?

So today we were hoping to stop and see friend Rosi as we head further south...no answer, so we will figure out something else. That's just the way we roll. Regroup and go. At least the sun is out...but so is the wind, so it is chilly here on the panhandle, but warmer than Mayberry!

Sunrise over the Gulf

Good morning, sunshine! Come on out...you've been a stranger.

So yesterday with the continued rain, we changed plans and arrived at Carrabelle a day early to visit with Wade and Ginger. The site they reserved for us was available, so why not? Flexible. We are. Ginger was on duty here at the cg, but we had a good visit in between a few interruptions.

MM was ready for a nap, so nap he did ahead of a nice local seafood dinner.

Ginger is off duty today, so the four of us will head out and putz around the coastline. Wade and Ginger have worked here at this cg for years during the summer, and lived at the same park as we do in W Palm the rest of the year. They are now full time here in Carrabelle, where Wade spends his time fishing while Ginger works the front office. He always wanted to be a kept man!

I am sure we will find plenty to do...or not do...today. At least the forecast is sun today and high 50s. Rain tomorrow as we roll. Again. We are getting used to that!

Come along with us as we explore!

Rainin and rollin

MM is not very experienced with using my phone for photos, and this is the only one he took (camera ones will be better I am sure but they are no use to me right now). L to R: Nan, cousins Pat and Will, then me:

Will owns and operates White Oak Pastures in little ole Bluffton, worth googling! We enjoyed a delicious lunch there at their Pasture to Plate pavilion where for a modest fee his employees and public can feast on down home good food grown on their organic farm. Friend them on Facebook! Daughter Jenni is his chief assistant, but we didn't get to see her.

Had a really great visit, and even toured Will's old home, remodeled for Jenni. Photos later. I have many memories of visiting there.

So we drove to Albany, stayed and shopped at Sam's Club. Nan joined us for an easy dinner at the Moho, not that we were hungry!

We woke up to rain, but that doesn't stop us. We are heading to Sopchoppy for the night. Barb, if you hadn't just gotten home from your trip, we would be stopping by for lunch! We'll wave. Welcome home.

Have a fabulous Thursday. Miles and smiles for us!

Rolling south!

After enjoying our annual BSP hoppin john dinner with sista a and spouses, MM and I hit the road and drive down to Columbus, spending the night at the visitors center. Doesn't everyone sleep there?! It was a quiet night.

Our next destination is lunch with sister Nan and cousins in Bluffton. More on that tomorrow.

KC isn't very happy the first hour if travel, bless his heart. And MM left in the parking light by accident last night, so it took a bit of time to jockey the battery juice around to get the Moho cranked. The engine battery run down keeps the generator from working, so he learned. Oh the fun!

All is well. And KC is settling down. Miles and smiles, y'all!
