So the plan is to visit with Mickey and Barbara this morning and then hit the road for the return trip to WPB.
I've had a good visit with my siblings and everyone...and I'll be leaving with a heavy heart as I drive south. I don't want my brother to die just yet, but his quality of life is almost non-existent, so he is ready to go. And I am preparing myself to accept this. At least I'm trying to get there.
Thanks, friends, for all the sweet words and prayers. They truly mean a lot to me and my family.
Make the most of every day, y'all. It is truly a blessing.

Our prayers go with you. And hugs...
It's very difficult to prepare oneself for the loss of a loved one. I've tried and tried, and haven't done very well at all.
Biggest hugs ever. :)
Dear Sandy,
One is never prepared to accept this.
I know, how great his pain is, God'll help him!
Hugs and prayers for you and your family!!!
Big hugs, Sandy. I don't believe one can ever be prepared to lose someone they love. At least you know he'll be secure eternally in the arms of his Heavenly Father and that is the biggest blessing of all.
Even when you know that someone's quality of life has been greatly diminished, you never want to see them die even if they have decided that they want to. As much as you hate to see a loved one suffer, you can't help but want to keep them around for at least a little longer.
When my grandfather died back in 1982 from leukemia, he welcomed death with open arms but even though I knew he was suffering and that he was happy with the life he had lived and ready was to meet his Maker, I didn't want him to go. I guess that was me being selfish but when it comes to those we love, sometimes we can't help but be selfish.
A big hug to you and best wishes that even though your heart is heavy now it won't always be that way and your brother will live happily in your memories with the quality of life that he deserved.
being an only child i simply cannot imagine how this must make you feel honey but i will send a prayer and much love... and hugs too.
