The kids and BFF Joy came over last night to help us get rid of some leftovers. So how come my two refrigerators are still full? Sheesh.
I boiled the turkey carcass yesterday afternoon and made a batch of yummy smelling soup for today, but then realized--where am I gonna put this big pot? There is no room in the either fridge.
The light in my brain turned on--I know! I checked the thermometer and it showed it was 36 outside, so I put the pot on the back deck. Boy, do I feel like a redneck, using the outside as an open fridge, but I am living in Mayberry, right? This is redneck country!
Missy decided to play it safe and kept out of the way of the wild Indians last night. Smart girl that Missy is. She is enjoying her new perch.
It's a new week. Enjoy your Monday, y'all!

Ciao Sandy!!
A new week is here...and leftovers went away with the kids!
We have minus 1 °C, and sunny, there is snow everywhere in my region, not here, but very cold!!
Today laundry!
Missy is a cute observer from her position!!!
Ciao!
Nothing wrong with using free refrigeration! My sisterdears use their back decks as a drink cooler, or anything else that needs to stay cold cooler all winter long!
Soup will be made today. MotherDear and I had our final plate of leftovers last night. And it was still yummy, but I'm totally done with turkey for a while! Dad? He had knockwurst. He's really done with turkey! hahahaha!
I still have 5 - yes, 5 - pies in my freezer! Oy.
Have a terrific redneck day, Sandy! Big hugs :]
we used our back porch to thaw out our turkey. Works wonderfully! Have a great week!
Love Missy's new perch! Looks like she's queen overseer.
hey, it's "green" refrigeration... LOL!
you might be a redneck if you put a pot of fixings on the back porch...
We're redneck, too!!! We couldn't fit the soda in the fridge, so it was put on the front porch. Sadly it is still there, despite empty fridges. hahaha.
The last time I cooked Thanksgiving Dinner at my house, (2 years ago) it was cold and I used my car as a spare fridge! If I put food on the deck, I'd have a cat (or who knows what other critters) trying to get into it. Couldn't do that this year and fridge space was at a premium. We managed quite well, though! Thanks again for letting me share your yummy leftovers.
i am so sick of leftovers. seriously. we are going for pizza with ocd today!
smiles, bee
xoxoxoxoxoxo
We had leftovers for one day only. Just like always. Too much of a good thing isn't good.
I love your solution to the big pot of soup. I see nothing wrong with that at all. I'd have done the very same thing. Great minds and all.
That Missy is one smart kitty.
Have a terrific day honey. Big hugs. :)
Why you calling that redneck. Hillbilly Willy has his refrigerator and washer on the porch. Willy puts his "coolade" out there in the summertime to keep it cool.
10-4 Willy
My Aunt Eleanor uses her front porch every year at Christmas for the soda and desserts that won't fit in the refrigerator and I always thought it was a great idea! Nothing wrong with Mother Nature providing the refrigeration once in awhile as long as the critters don't get at the goodies!
I think Tesla needs one of those nice perch things - perhaps I can find him one for Christmas somewhere if he's a good boy with the tree we'll eventually be getting. For now, he's happy sleeping on a blanket on the dining room table next to my laptop!
