Announcing another cruise destination...

Y'all aren't surprised, are you?! We'll scratch off another item on our to-do list before we die...we are doing the Baltic Sea area and St. Petersburg, Russia, in August...this coming August! We fly ATL to Copenhagen on 8/2, so we will get to see Jeff/Bjarne...maybe Mette?...if they save the date of August 3 for us on their busy calendar. The neat thing about this cruise (other than seeing lots of new places) is that we come back to the States via the cruise ship, although we come home to NY, but that's OK. We at least won't have jet lag. That's a big plus.

After departing C'hagen the second time on the 10th, we hit Norway, Faroe Islands (wherever that is), Iceland, Newfoundland (didn't go there on our Maritime trip), then to Nova Scotia ahead of our NY arrival. Pretty neat, huh? We'll be onboard for 25 days, a new record for us. So many cruises, so little time.........

I officially do NOT like you anymore. You're going to see some of my "1000 places before you die" sites- without me of course. I'll be back at work by then! Oh well, one day!!!

Maybe by the time you are our age, you will have seen most of your "1000 places..." Grandmommie Bell said that we should find the resources to make our priorities happen:-) We are trying to follow her advice. wish all of you could come with us...xoxoxo

It is the Holland America Eurodam, a pretty new ship.

You still haven't beat our number of cruises, yet, but you sure are working on that one, too!

Hugs back!

Welcome back to "Wonderful, Wonderful Copenhagen"! :-D Yes, we'll reserve the day for you. As soon as YOU know it, I'm sure you'll let US know what time you arrive. We'll be at our annual summer house "gay"borhood party the day before (hic!) but we'll try to retain some sobriety for the morning after (right....).

Looking forward to hosting you again, no matter how brief! Maybe we can use that first day to show off our summer house renovation, then your return on the 10th can be in-town entertainment (suspect it'll be limited time).

Glad to see you out and about having fun! Good advice from Grandma Bell, passed down through my mom to me; we travel as much and often as possible. Next month, we'll enjoy long weekends in both Munich and Berlin. :-)

Time flies! See you soon!!

The Faroe Islands are an independent part of Denmark placed in the middle of the Atlantic. It's rainy, foggy, cold and windy - and very pretty - the 5 min a day when the sun is out.
The national dish is fermented (semi-rotten) whalemeat, with fermented sheeps meat and some dried (and fermented) fish, Get your meat and your greens at same time.....
Enjoy your trip

Bjarne...the only thing I like fermented is my GRAPES! Yuck!!! I am glad we can eat on the ship during that stop...fermented meat? No thank you.

Looking forward to seeing you both in August!

xoxoxo,
Sandy

I highly recommend you do some Wiki research so you know where you're headed:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faroe_Islands

....for starters. You'll get the idea from there.

Oh yes, I'll definitely be doing some 'homework' for the trip. We are just nailing down airline tickets right now...will get details worked out later on! Good suggestion about going to Wikipedia.

WOW! Sounds like a great trip. And really good advice too. Seems like you have some fun priorities! And way to go for making them reality.

A little tourist clip. I did say it was pretty up there. Jeff don't wanna go there: It's cold and the islands are so small that the runway in the airport is just a little to short = rough landings.
