Mackinac Island harbor

Horses and more horses! No cars allowed on the island, so it is walk, ride a bike, or do the horse and carriage thing. And smell the horse droppings everywhere! But it is absolutely beautiful here on this small island.

We got a package ferry tour that also included the historical carriage tour as well as a stop at the fort. While at the fort we were all treated to costumes and music appropriate for the 4th. Very nice.

Today we plan to drive up to the UP--upper peninsular--by car.

Smiles and miles, y'all!

Sounds like you've got a fun day planned! The island looks pretty. We definitely got tired of the "country air" (aromas) in the Amish country last week.

Our vacation is over so it's back to the grindstone around here. The fireworks last night back in Mayberry were pretty nice. (We watched them from the boat.)

There's another thing I noticed yesterday. In every parade the horses all wait until they are prancing down the street to take a dump. It does smell too. Just saying.

There's a harbor so I'm happy I got to come along.

Have a terrific time honey. Big hugs. :)
