MM and the mighty oak tree

While sitting and enjoying my morning coffee on the deck yesterday, I am greeted by more than birds chirping—a sudden CRACK, followed by a huge splash does not bode well.  I saw a big dead limb floating in the water, then noticed this oak leaning precariously way over the water, too near the diving board.  Not good.

MM to the rescue to analyze the situation, determining that the tree had to be cut down.  Bugger.  It is a good thing he did, because the innards were rotten and it wouldn’t have lasted in place much longer.  Plus, he got rid of some smaller stuff:

And got “ate up” by the blasphemy vines and had to wash off all the blood:

Then hook up and drag off the tree (so the kids could use the diving board):

Missy had to inspect before giving the “all clear” signal to begin use:

And then the fun of the fourth began, with lots of good food and fun times for friends and family.  Everyone was happy (except for two kitties) when the neighbor’s fireworks began at dark, but all survived the noise and chaos.  Macey and I beat Joan and Ansley at three games of marbles.  Ready for a rematch, girls?

How was your celebration?  Hopefully it didn’t include a chain saw!

My Canadian celebration was quiet , very quiet. My wife & I don't down to town where the excitement is it, especially after when the fireworks begin. Due to some problems I have, the fireworks bother me a great deal. I miss them but They can cause seizures for me and I don't want that.
I;m glad that you enjoyed yours. Now that is down, we move on. My next big thing is my cruise on the Breeze.
Have a wonderful Sunday Sandy. See ya.

MM is always there to fix whatever needs fixing. Good for you to get that tree out of the way.

We didn't do anything yesterday. We put our U.S. flag out to wave proudly and that was it. The noise here lasted until 1 in the morning. I'm hoping everyone used all their fireworks up. Little Bit was a mess for hours. Bless her heart.

Have a fabulous day honey. Big hugs to you and tons of scritches to the babies. ♥♥♥

I know those kiddos enjoyed being able to use the diving (or jumping off) board - because I watched them! It was a lovely afternoon and evening, good friends and good food and a shady deck by the lake, even the temperature was lovely. A good time was had by all.

eesh... downed trees. I hate to see 'em. It makes me sad. srsly. But I am very glad it didn't harm anyone or any home.

My kitties were also UNpleased about the fireworks. They were going off for 3 nights. Ack.

Have yourself a lovely day! xoxo
