Wet Friday

Rain. Again. Another try at quail hunting down the tubes, but with MM's early wake up, I am awake. He is back in bed. Bugger.

Lynne and I were in charge of dinner last night, so we four went grocery shopping yesterday, piddled around our respective coaches, and had fun going through old family photos after our good dinner.

I brought home this pile to scan into my computer today. We identified and dated as much as we could collectively figure out. That was quite a job, since all our senior fam members are now gone.

This is MM's mom on the L, and sister Leone on the R. They were quite the fashionistas. Their dad and mom are in that pile above the 3 young girls above include sister Catherine.

Fun memories.

MM got a sheet of paper and started drawing the location of where stuff was located on the N Dade Florida farm. MM is the youngest of five.

We should have recorded him, Bob, and Carolyn critiquing where stuff was located, according to their remembrance. Sweet fun.

Lynne and I are also doing dinner tonight, but for a larger crowd. I'm firing up the crockpot on this rainy day...then Lynne and I are going shopping. Without the guys.

What are you doing today to create some memories? Get out and make some! Go...

Rainy Thursday

This is what MM and I are missing back in Mayberry:

Good advice:

Come on down! Rainy but 48 is mighty fine here in Winter Garden.

Bob and Lynne are our neighbors...and we are happy they are here.

Life is wet and not icy, y'all! Be safe, peeps.

Yucky hump day

The first photo is from Haley, looking out to the lake, that is slightly frozen. Mayberry got 2-3" of snow yesterday. The local road department had a hard time keeping up with all that mess. Icy roads are the problem, not so much the snow.

Next is Brian pulling lil Haley on a sled near their house. The kids and dogs all enjoyed the snow, and get to stay home from school today.

And sweet Missy is snuggled on my legs watching the news with me this morning, while KC is back on the bed with Maytag Man and their TV. Go figure. The boys are bonding.

MM was going quail hunting with Don this morning. Yes, that is a shotgun propped by the seat, along with his hunting vest. Blame it on the rain--they are staying put. Bugger.

Not to worry. Carolyn has some quail in the freezer, so we are going to their home for dinner tonight. They brought dinner to us last night (lucky us), and we had a great visit. Love our family. I think I have mentioned that before.

Everybody stay safe and warm. Don't go out driving. The Atlanta area is still quite a mess.

This yucky weather here is rather beautiful. No ice; no stuck vehicles. Yep. Florida is the perfect place to be during the winter for us non-snow people. Check.

Life is good, y'all! Stay safe and warm.

Moving on

Continental breakfast, followed by hugs, goodbyes, and stowing to go.

Sunny and 61 as we head E about 30 miles. I think we can handle that pressure.

Then we get to set up all over again, but we two have our duties down to a pretty fine routine. Easy peasy.

Dinner with Don and Carolyn tonight; Bob and Lynne arrive tomorrow for a few days with us in Winter Garden. Love getting together with family!

WYWH. Life is (warm) good, y'all!

Flea market finds

We were big spenders at the flea market this morning.

MM did buy some tie downs for our storage locker back in WPB and some eyeglass/multi-use spray cleaner, but that was all. Useful stuff. Tons of junk spread out over many acres, so we didn't see it all. It was overcast all morning, so I didn't take any photos. It was good fun and what you do in Webster in a Monday.

Our dinner last night was dee-lish. Spaghetti dinner at the clubhouse tonight, our final rally night, followed by the park's normal Monday bingo afterward. I think we will instead be back at the coach to sort socks (that's our standard answer for when we don't want to do the whatever is being offered). We don't play bingo!

The afternoon is free and the sun is now out. What to do, what to do? Hmmm, I think a book is calling me...while the towels finish drying...and MM and the kitties nap.

Missy is settled in already, after checking out what I am doing. Silly girl.

Life is good, y'all!

Grande Sunday

The guys enjoyed their redneck bus ride here at the resort and a visit to the on-ground factory where the suites are constructed:

Us gals carpooled up to a tea room for lunch and entertainment with the witty owner. I tried out Coronation Chicken salad (made and named for the Queen's coronation and served at official weddings and stuff over at the old palace). I declare it to be delish:

A round of rice is under that fruit. Yep, that's the way it is officially done. If you don't like curry, you probably won't like the chicken salad. PSA to the cooks.

The gals arrived back at the resort in time to pick up our guys and head to dinner 30 miles away at O'Keefe's Irish Pub, followed by a very entertaining ghost tour. Just for the record, no ghosts were spotted...or felt...during our walk. Thankfully!

We have free time morning this morning, then we meet after lunch and head to a winery. Prime rib dinner at the clubhouse tonight. Poor us!

The sun is finally shining...sheets are washing...and kitties are sleeping.

Have yourselves a ginger peachy day. We will do the same. Life is grand at Florida Grande, y'all!

Saturday catch up

Travelers celebrating 25 years of Moho fun...with cake Thursday night:

Official bag ladies with our newly painted shopping bags:

Then a tour of a small seaplane factory (no, MM can't buy one, but he sure drooled), and our rally host Cathy got to take a flight:

Dick seriously drooled.

It was cold outside, but worth it to watch the flight. The pilot was the designer of this brand, with over 10,000 hours of flight time. Cathy was in good hands.

We then enjoyed a dinner together, followed by lots if chatter and his times.

We have a busy day today with the gang, but it is now time for our club meeting.

Life is good, y'all!

Friday in Webster

We have a beautiful sunrise and a windy 43 here this morning. We need some kites!

The other two photos are across the street from us. My welcome flag is whipping around like crazy.

We are in a beautiful resort in the middle of absolutely nowhere. Not counting the cows. We ventured into town (750 residents) after we got set up, and stopped at the main store--$ General. They sell wine there! Who knew?! But no red wine vinegar, which is what I needed but it can wait. We were actually needing some quarters (no bank here) for the game after dinner, but we had plenty after all.

It was a horse race (of sorts) and horse betting that required the quarters. You bet on which horse you think will win. There were 4. Orange had never won, so on the last race, MM took pity on her and bet 4 quarters. He was her lucky charm, and brought $12 back to the table. Good investment. Go Orange! We thank you.

Breakfast is served shortly at the club house. Afterward the ladies have a craft class while the guys have a technical session.

That begins our first rally day.

The afternoon involves airplanes, followed by a fish fry dinner tonight.

No grass will grow under these feet!

Check back tomorrow for more stuff.

Life is Grande, y'all! Get out and have some fun. We sure will.

Thursday travels

Yes we are! Good sunny morning from I-95 N bound, heading a wee bit NW of Orlando.

We are meeting our Monaco Travelers club for a few days of new adventures. We have never been to Webster before, but our hosts have lots planned for us. KC doesn't think much of this whole adventure. Poor thang. He'll get over it.

Miles and smiles, and happy hour awaiting us. Come along!

Life is one adventure after another, y'all!

Hat tip to Joy for the photo found on the Internet from a car park in Scotland.

Chia Haley!

Haley2, Maddie birthday

I like Brian’s comment on FB this morning:

Just 6 months ago I didn't even have a child, now she's already 13!  Happy birthday to my chia daughter Haley!

She celebrated all weekend with friends and family, so it is a good thing today isn’t a school day so that she (and Maddie) can rest.

Happy Birthday, honey girl.  Grumps and I love you…and thank Briney and Faith for their quick work.  You two are now officially the parents of a teenager.  Good luck!

Happy Monday to everyone.

Life is good, y’all!

Sunny Friday in paradise

No frost for us close to the coast, but some out west of us are reporting on the weather news just a bit of frost on their windshields. My orchids got safely brought inside after dark.

I asked Siri to simply remind me "orchids" at 9p so that I wouldn't forget. She said OK, and sent me this confirmation: Or kids, 9:00. It made me laugh.

I'm easily entertained.

Not the best news from the derma-dude on MM. It is early stage, so we have another scoop-out session set up in a couple of weeks. He doesn't have an ounce of vanity, so he won't mind these two wee scars on his upper arms. We are just happy to get the bad spots gone!

So today we meet with the financial guy. Thrilling, I am sure. And maybe dinner at the Well tonight. We don't rush into details. The day is still young and full of opportunities.

It won't be dull here in paradise. There is always laundry calling.

Life is good, y'all!

Windy day in paradise

Missy found one spot of sunbeam to relax in this chilly morning. Smart girl. Second cold front is arriving, but it is still warmer than Mayberry, so this is merely an observation...not a complaint!

I got an all clear call from the dermatology office yesterday. Good news for me, but no news yet on Maytag Man's results yet, so hopefully that news will come today.

Blister...pop or don't pop? I have a doozy sitting on my pointer finger that I am amazed is still intact. I accidentally scratched the one on my shoulder, popping it big time. Ouch. We shall see which heals the quickest. Methinks I can't use the new ointment cream given to me. The two spots I used it on itch. Great...not! Another allergy product to add to the list.

May all our problems be so small!

So today is just usual stuff. Oh, that teardrop camper has plexiglass just under the roof, not screens. We took a close look yesterday. And MM took over our space heater at dinner time to see if they wanted to borrow it while here. Yes! French Canadians, but nice gestures are appreciated with no language barrier. And it will be down in the 30s tonight. Brrr...

We are meeting Johnnie and Susan and whoever else for dinner tonight at a new place tonight. We will have fun for sure. Check.

Life is all about family and friends...and playing nice. Check.

Y'all find your own sunbeam today and enjoy!

Rainy Wednesday

One cold front down, two to go.

Good yucky morning, where MM is still snoozing and two kitties aren't. Something is wrong with that scenario.

Check out our cute new neighbor:

I'm wondering how that pop-up section fares in this rain. Hopefully we get a chance to check it out closer.

Here is another beauty and one that has a long and interesting story. I'll have to get MM to help me with those details, a good project for a rainy day. Friend Dick (we spent the night in his yard recently) is restoring this prototype that his father designed back in the early '50s:

We took Bill and Barbara by there after breakfast Monday. They wanna go back and see it when it is finished. Dickie has a March deadline that is rapidly approaching. He is a workaholic, so he will git-er-done. She is a real beauty...and an expensive mistress!

One of our renters had an electrical problem that MM needs to go fix today between rain showers. I am doing paperwork...a good, rainy day project that goes on, no matter where we are.

Life is good here at the fun factory. Hope yours is, too. I think I'll just enjoy my coffee and my Mary Alice Monroe novel while it is quiet. Paperwork can wait awhile longer. Check.

Barnacle check

FL day

Breakfast was great at John G’s yesterday; the company was as well.  Long time friends Terry and Lynn met us there.  We took Bill and Barbara with us (they LOVE that place, too), and we discovered that Terry and Bill have something in common—karaoke!  Those two boys are gonna have a play date soon.

Then it was time for our annual visit to the dermatologist for “barnacle” check.  We both had several pesky spots that needed freezing off, however I had one place and MM had two that looked a little suspicious that were scraped (more like scooped!) for analysis.  It’ll be a couple of weeks before we know anything.

We are both at the patching stage of life, but are grateful for the patching skills.

Today is beautiful ahead of 3…note that…3 approaching cold fronts.  Sheesh.  You’d think this is winter.  Oh.  It is.  Snow predicted in Mayberry tomorrow.  Have I mentioned we love Florida in the winter?

Usual stuff going on today.  And that is A-OK.

To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.

Life is good, y’all.  Bundle up…and line up your target!

Sunny Sunday

Beautiful and 70 here in WPB this morning. Hello, blimp. It is cooler up where you are.

Heading to church, then a little exploring afterward.

Have yourselves a ginger peachy day, my friends. Make today special...because it is.

Saturday in paradise

Where the living is easy:

The sun is shining, but we are having mini bursts of rain. Like we need more rain! Sheesh. We still are not dried out, but at least we didn't have any local flooding as some of the neighboring towns had. We are grateful.

Last night we enjoyed an Italian pot luck dinner at the rec hall. I made Caprese salad, and it was a big hit. We have lots of good cooks in the park.

And lots of no worries today. Love it. It's time for a bike ride and a little visiting.

Life is good, y'all! Make yours good, too.

Windy Thursday in paradise

This nifty table top heater was our great find at Sam's yesterday after our fine dining.

It was back in the clearance section, MM's fave place to shop, marked half off. It will travel well with us and will work great to take off an evening chill.

One of our park neighbors has a neat outdoor train display that the wee boys would enjoy seeing, if they were here...which they are not:

We have had a few days of sunshine, however that isn't happening currently. Hopefully tomorrow...we wanna dry out and enjoy the patio. We do well couped up inside our small space, but still...

No great plans today except to run out to the grocery store for a few items. MM ordered some tire pressure sensors that arrived yesterday, so he is installing them today. Excitement...we haz it.

Life is windy but good, y'all!

Tuesday in paradise

oatmeal

Today is a cinnamon-apple oatmeal kind of day.  It has crawled up to a windy 54, so much better than 9 in Mayberry…with snow and ice.  Brrr.

Hello, sweet kids:

Faith, Brian, kids 1.14Haley, Amy 1.14Jason, Brian, Faith 1.14

MM and I missed dinner at Haley and Logan’s newly remodeled house the other night.  Next event, we need to Facetime!  I sure miss my kiddos.

These kids miss the warm temps of Key Largo:

Griswolds 1.14

And so do we!  We had all the windows yesterday; today the heat is on.  That is Florida in January, and we sure enjoy being here.  Well, except for missing family and friends back home.  There’s always a trade off for everything.

So, MM has gone for a hair cut; I am taking care of mail and household chores.  My computer has cut off once again this morning…not good!  This behavior is not acceptable.  Quit that.

Stay safe and warm, Peaches, wherever you are!  And smile.

Sunny Monday

It has rained for the past two days, so the sunshine is very welcome this morning.  MM is doing some odd jobs outside this morning, after breakfast out with the boys.  More on that another day.

Here are our kids last week enjoying fishing:

Hensons fishing

And catching!  Alex caught a nice snook, but it is out of season, so he had to throw it back:

Alex, snook 1.14

Will caught a very tasty redfish:

Will, redfish

They are back in Mayberry, freezing.  It is slated to go to –2 there tonight.  Yikes!  Will is already saying he wants to go some place where he can wear shorts.  Smart boy.  I will take our expected 45 tonight over any minus temps and/or snow, thankyouverymuch.

What I don’t want is for my computer to unexpectedly shut down ::again::!  What’s up with that???  I have Carbonite for off site back up, so I need to do a bit more local backing up today, just in case.  Urrrgghhh.

Have yourselves a ginger peachy Monday and stay WARM…and safe, y’all!

Thursday goodbye

So long, Key Largo. It was fun, but WPB is calling us.

Hopefully there won't be a lot of traffic northbound today. We don't have a deadline anyway.

Miles and smiles, listening to some happy traveling tunes.

Life is good, y'all! Happy Friday Eve.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year 2014

The park party was damp but the food was abundant and good yesterday.  It was fun chatting with all the folks there.  We love meeting new people.

We came back to the coach and read and watched the festivities on TV.  We managed to stay awake to watch the ball drop, kiss, say hello to the new year, and fall asleep.  Party animals…not.

The sun is actually breaking through the clouds this morning, a very welcome sight…75 and windy.  That is A-OK with us.  Nothing major on the calendar for today, other than to enjoy this fresh new day of the new year, and do a load or two of laundry.  Yep, life goes on as normal, no matter where we are.

Blessings to everyone for a fabulous, healthy, and Happy 2014!
