Lake visitor and other stuff

P1020158

In addition to deer, dogs, turkeys and the occasional fox, we have a variety of water loving visitors here in our cove.  This daddy long legs doesn’t usually come so close to the house, preferring to stay away from the humans on his fishing expeditions.  I happened to look out the French doors and saw him sitting checking out the nearby breakfast buffet yesterday morning, so I grabbed my camera and zoomed in through the window.  He was intent on food, so he didn’t see me this time and fly away like he normally does.  These guys are sooo graceful.

So it is Thursday in Fare week.  MM picked up two tents yesterday for me; this morning we pick up two more…and then the fun begins.  I mean WORK.  The tent installation party begins at 1p, so feel free to stop the church by and assist!  Hopefully we have some strong men available.  At least the weather is cooling down, just in time for the tent party.  I special ordered that for my workers!

Have a fabulous day.  Life is good, y’all!

Yup. A grey of Blue Heron, looks like!

We have them here, and white ones, too. They are good fishermen for sure! They gulp their food though. :)

Sounds like you're enjoying Paradise yet again. Good job! Big hugs xoxo

Nice capture!

I hope you ordered some cooler weather for up here, too, as it's just been hot and humid and way too warm for September for my liking. I know, I know ... we complain when it's too cold, we complain when it's too hot ... but with fall being my most favorite season I'm ready for some sweater weather and pretty leaves, not shorts!

I watch these beauties fish on the Delta all the time. So very large, but so very graceful.

Have fun putting together your tent party. If we were close we'd come over and help.

Have a terrific day honey. Big hugs from hot California. :)

Your heron is beautiful. There was one living at the pond at my previous house, I loved to watch him. I miss that...along with the bullfrogs on summer nights.
Have fun putting up tents. Hope you get to do more supervising and less actual putting them together!

Wow, I've never heard them called that before. We call them Cranes, but I guess officially they are Great Blue Herrons. There are also Green, and a few other varieties. They are my favorite, not sure why. But I have always loved them.
