Thursday stuff in paradise

Congrats to all our Catholic friends on the selection of the new pope!  History was made yesterday with the election of the first ever pope from the Americas.  I was glued to the TV, waiting for that white smoke to announce a conclusion of the voting.  I had a feeling that was going to be the final vote, and I was right.

MM and I were right there in St. Peter’s Square, on a beautiful August Sunday in 1997, with friends Charlie and Pat, and Bill and Rosi.  We toured St. Peter’s Church, but could not get into the Sistine Chapel, due to maintenance work going on there at the time.  Bugger.  I seriously wanted to see that, but we got something even better…Pope John Paul II came out onto the balcony to give his Sunday blessing!  We couldn’t have planned the day any better than that.

So today MM and Bob will be off doing guy stuff, while Lynne and I go do girlie stuff…mainly looking for that MOB dress.  Wish us luck!

We will get back together later on and go meet a bunch of folks for dinner.  More on that later.  And boy is it chilly today!  No shorts; no flip flops.  Bugger.

Have yourselves a ginger peachy, warm day, y’all!  Gotta go!!!

I watched it live, too. I heard his parents immigrated from Ital to Argentina, so he's Italian and Brazilian? I love how he ended his speech... "Have a nice sleep." That is exactly what I say to my parents every night... "Have a nice sleep. I love you." Hearing that made me smile, and hope for blessings for the church.

Have a successful shopping trip! And lots of girly giggles, too! big hugs from chilly south jawjah xoxo

I didn't watch it, but I can't turn on the television. Hubby has too. We have remote controls lined up for this and for that and I don't know how to use them. Okay, I just don't care for the television. I'm happy with their choice and I think he'll be fantastic.

Today it will be in the 80s again. I'm not in shorts yet, but I've been wearing short sleeve shirts and my flip flops for a few days now. I'm loving it too.

Have a terrific day honey. Big hugs. ☺

You should write a memoir about all the places you've been :)

I teared up, I was so excited. To see so many diverse faithful in one place, all for the glory of god. Amazing! And I'm happy they chose a man who reflects a major demographic in the church.
