Swampy Cinco Sunday

Thursday in the sun:

Today in the rain:

More rain:

At least the lake is filling up, and the pollen is being washed away.

But...the heat is on this morning! Who stole Spring??? Cinco de Mayo is supposed to be springtime, but that's life in the mountains...and we love it anyway.

Two kitties were anxious to go out...and made it only to the deck. They will be back inside soon. Wet is not appealing to them.

We have marbles planned tonight, rain or no rain.

Life is good, y'all!

Bowling party

Macey got another triple chocolate birthday cake last night at her friends birthday party, as opposed to the TCC she had at the family birthday party last week. I'm glad Grumps and I were included last night.

Sweet gals.

Silly gals.

Missing gal.

We could not find Missy anywhere when we got home. And it was dark. That girl comes inside when it is dark. She should have greeted us. No Missy.

I finally remembered going into the front bedroom closet around 4:00, and yes, Missy was in the bedroom. You know what happened. Miss Curiosity.

She was mighty happy to be freed from that small space, let me tell you. And happy to visit the litter box. She was a good girl. No mess, other than towels knocked onto the floor. Bless her heart.

Reckon she learned a lesson about curiosity? Naw, probably not.

So, I am chopping and cooking today for a church supper tonight. MM is out fixing a machine, then will run it. Rain is expected, but he said that would help keep the dust down. He is happy, out running manly equipment.

That's life in Mayberry today. And it is good!

"For" leaf clover

This was waiting for me last night when MM and I got home from our Thursday night supper group.

I love that sweet boy! And I cut him some slack in the grammar department, considering he is only in kindergarten.

Thank you, Alex.

Precious kids. I am blessed with them...Plural.

Those clovers are indeed a lucky charm, don't you think?

Life is very good in Mayberry, y'all! Hope yours is ginger peachy also.

Mallard duo

Content in the pond, not flying away when I walked by yesterday.

Yes, that is an albino female mallard, and let me tell you, her male is very protective of her. Very.

I was outside in our deck the other day and heard an awful commotion down in the cove, so I walked to the edge and looked out to see what it was---another male was trying to get his woman! No way. Feathers flew, beaks pecked, and that new fella finally took the hint and flew away.

Contentment. They have it. Maybe there will be some interesting looking babies this spring. I hope. We've always had mallards coming to this pond (our old pond--now belonging to Amy and Jason).

The pond is all yours, Mr. and Mrs. Mallard, but you have to share with the koi. And that other pair of mallards who visit occasionally. But that's it, well, except for that pesky Barkley doggie who likes to swim occasionally. Be kind to him; he lives there!

Life is filled with all kinds of critters here in Mayberry. We like that, especially the two who share their home with us.

Have yourselves a ginger peachy day! We sure will, despite the clouds.

May Day

MM has absolutely HAD IT with his new Win8 laptop.  Nothing but trouble.  He opens a new tab, and Internet Explorer quits working; it has a “metro” opening screen with icons hidden.  You have to run the cursor around to find all that hidden stuff.  It wasn’t easy even getting the dang thing simply to shut down.  Sheesh!  Mayday…help!!!

laptop

Keith to the rescue.  We had our computer geek come over yesterday to tweak a few things, especially this laptop before it gets thrown out a real window, then get it connected to our network.

Our geek has a solution to the Win8 difficulties—a free-trial program that turns the system into Win7.  Bring it on!  He did.  It is working.  MM is happy.  If the program and the laptop play together well, MM can buy the program at the end of the trial for a mere $5.  Yeah buddy!  That’s a cheap fix.

We still have some issues with our HP wireless printer, but that is an internal issue in the printer, so we have to deal with HP directly on that.  Bugger.

Progress. We has some.  Plus while Keith was here, I started digging out old electronics…bunches of parts and pieces of this and that, no longer needed.  These will be saved up to take to the next electronics recycle day event.

Spring cleaning is in the air, which means that this morning MM has already bailed out and gone to his shop where he can tinker on some manly equipment, leaving me here to do “pink” jobs.

Grease is in his future; dust is in mine.

That’s life in sunny Mayberry today.

Happy May Day, y’all!

God has a sense of humor!

A woman received a call that her daughter was sick.
She stopped by the pharmacy to get medication,
got back to her car and found that she had locked her keys inside.

The woman found an old rusty coat hanger left on the ground.  She looked at it and said, "I don't know how to use this."

She bowed her head and asked God to send her HELP.
Within 5 minutes a beat up old motorcycle pulled up.
A bearded man who was wearing an old biker skull rag got off his cycle and asked if he could help.

She said: "Yes, my daughter is sick. I’ve locked my keys in my car.  I must get home.  Please, can you use this hanger to unlock my car?"

He said, "Sure." He walked over to the car, and in less than a minute the car was open.

She hugged the man and through tears said, "Thank You SO Much! You are a very nice man."

The man replied, "Lady, I am NOT a nice man.  I just got out of PRISON yesterday; I was in prison for car theft."

The woman hugged the man again sobbing,  "Oh, thank you God!  You even sent me a Professional!"

Is GOD Good or What!?

IN GOD WE TRUST

Old friends

Creating more memories with old friends.

Claire, Diane, and Kay.

Diane and I lived on the same block till middle school. Good memories of hours and hours playing together with all our neighborhood friends.

A dinner dance concludes the festivities tonight. Will everyone be gone by 10p? Probably!

Having fun with the old people!
Albany High School Class of '63. Long may we shine! Go, Indians!
