Saturday stuff

Land chapter gals last night:

The DJ showed us how to so the shag...which is a couples dance. Umm, this is a ladies convention. Duh! We so have a few guys here, but still. It was a dud project, but he did play some tunes we could line dance and twist to...finally. My gang left early. That says a lot, because we are the dancers who usually close down the place. Oh well...

Today we had two forums. One was of the history of Jekyll Island, and the other was presented by the major rep from our International office. Laura is a hoot, so it was very enjoyable.

We just had a nice lunch, and they are calling Beach Bingo. Joy is playing my card while I blog. What a friend she is!

Heading out on the island shortly for free time; dinner and entertainment later.

Having fun. WYWH!

Life is good, y'all.

Dinner photos

I can't edit out that sideways photo from my iPad with this slow Internet, so let's try again with a different photo:

Ad show off my plate:

Grilled GA shrimp with garlic-cheesegrits and black eye peas. Yum...

And a group photo of Online Betas and friends:

Tata for now...

Hello from Jekyll Island!

We had a smooth trip south yesterday, stopping once to shop where we each scored some nice stuff. We ate lunch at a gas station!

OK, so it USED to be a gas station. It was definitely a no-frills place, and a popular spot in Greensboro, GA. The pork was good; their only BBQ sauce too spicey for me...wuss, yes.

After lots of hugging and talking upon arrival at our hotel, a dozen of us took the hotel bus over to a restaurant for some local seafood.

Next, back to Carolyn's room for a wee gift exchange (tradition that the online gals have)...and some serious relaxing.

Registration for the attendees begins at noon today, so that is our first goal of the day, then lunch on the water, followed by high tea later. We eat well on these weekends! And a party tonight.

Girls just wanna have fun...and it is only just beginning.

Hugs and smiles from Jekyll, y'all!

Southbound!

Mowing Man doesn’t get to go on this trip today—no guys are allowed!  Well, they are invited, but still…it would be pretty boring for them.

Joan, Joy, Jennie, and I are heading to Jekyll Island for a sorority convention, with shopping plans en route south.BSPRose

Friends from all over the country are converging for the annual Beta Sigma Phi state convention; probably 200-300 gals.  Can you say EXCITED?  Yes, we are.

And it is a flip-flop weekend.  Count me totally in for that!  I just happen to have a new pair or two (or three)…but don’t tell MM!  He won’t notice.  No formals, no costumes—just comfy clothes.  Check.

Miles and smiles today!  The Georgia Peaches are gonna have fun, fun, fun!!!

Life is good, and gonna get even better, y’all!

Mayberry traffic jam

No hurry; no worry. Creep a little closer, and they eventually decide to move out of the way. No, this is not dinner!

Life is simple and good here in Mayberry. May all your problems be this small today. We love our mountain living.

Rainy Tuesday in Mayberry

So let’s look at the market place in Bergen, Norway, instead.  For the record, neither of us bought a thing there.  I mean, who needs a troll?  Or a wool sweater?  Or another T-shirt?  Well, maybe someone does need a new T-shirt, but still…not an expensive one…that will eventually get smeared with grease!  Bless his heart.

Who labored on Labor Day?  Mowing Man sure did.  He had another mower breakdown; this time it was a hose, nothing serious.  Saturday, though, he had a major thingy break that needed to be welded, and another thingy that needed to be ground (using an electrical grinder).  He is great at fixing most anything.  And earning more travel moolah!  Plus, he enjoys working.

Of course now that Labor Day is over, every southern gal knows that there is no wearing white now, right?  I don’t know who made that rule, so don’t yell at me for only pointing it out.  Of course there are rule breakers, so here is a tip for you if you fall into that category:  there is a color called Winter White.  There.  That is what you rule breakers are wearing.  And you can only wear it fall/winter.

You’re welcome.

Have yourselves a ginger peachy Tuesday.  Or is it Monday again?  And where are my assistants???  This desk is a mess!
