Thou shalt not steal!

Sometime Sunday night, some guys stole a whole bunch of stuff from Dick's shop. A bunch of expensive stuff--two generators, a mountain bike, some chain saws, a concrete saw, the GPS out of Dick's truck, a bunch of tools, nail gun, and a variety of other items from oil to antifreeze. Needless to say, we are not HAPPY CAMPERS. This is our hard-earned STUFF. Stuff (mostly) that Dick and our guys need to work with. I know times are bad, but stealing is not the answer. Of course the local sheriff was called and a report was taken. We'll now have to contact the insurance company, etc. And be concerned that they might come back for another load. Isn't that a happy thought? Hmmm, they might be on Candid Camera the next time!

I'm grateful no family member was physically harmed; however, we still feel very violated. And angry, but we have a roof over our heads, a comfy bed to sleep in, food on our table...and the ability to keep the home fires burning despite this set back. We'll survive...and hope the thiefs get caught.

I know this feeling well. I don't like it either. Thieves are not my favorite people. I hope they get caught and prosecuted too. Big hug. :)

You're the second family I know that got broken into last week. Another was on vacation and had to cut it short.

They ransacked the house and took the kids' Christmas gifts...

Sad, all around. I say set up some booby traps...

this sucks, we were ripped off in 1979, I still remember, they took a gold $5 coin my father gave me.

I am so sorry to hear about your break-in. I live in a small town in the Sierra Nevada Foothills and it seems that robberies and break-ins are really on the increase. I have been robbed before and it leaves you with a terrible feeling.

So glad no one was hurt.

stealing is definitely not an answer. it has never been good.

maybe you need a beagle!

We were robbed on Shannons first Christmas on Christmas eve while we were at church...took everything under the tree. We lived in East Point near the airport at the time. Turned out to be someone in the neighborhood who had just been released from jail. We didn't get anything back except a watch.

I'm SO sorry to hear about this! My daughter had a major theft while she was away at my grandson's graduation. Someone knew they were gonna be gone. They've traced it back to a "friends-of-a-friend," but not enough evidence to charge them. She filed her claim (with receipts, photos, etc.) in July - still no check! The sad thing was they took all of her husband's jewelry and watches. He died three years ago - his wedding band was the hardest thing to lose.
A lesson for all: If you have any jewelry over $5k have it on a jewelry schedule. $5,000 is the max you can recover for any one item. It was not nearly enough to cover her diamond ring (a huge loss) and she can never recover it.
They also hauled off her safe. One can NEVER be too cautious!!!
I hope your story has a much better ending than this one did...
