Down the river

It was a first for MM and me to go down a river with NO paddle.  Easy peasy.  Our guide did all the work:

P1230527

The Fraser River section we were on was strictly a float trip; another section is a true rafting trip, complete with rapids.  We pretty much all stayed dry the whole way down.

Our raft got to see a bear , but the second group didn’t see him.  Too bad!  Here he is:

It was fun, but as with all good things, fun must end…or at least change.

Tomorrow morning, Moho Man and I will head to W Glacier NP for a couple of days.  We will only have ourselves as rally masters to plan our next adventure.  I think we can handle that.  As a matter of fact, doing nothing but soaking up nature sounds like a mighty fine plan!

Life is as good as you make it, and we are making memories.  Miles and smiles, y’all!

It’s been another beautiful day in Jasper NP, but there are only three more sleeps here…with lots more to see and do before departing.

Maligne Lake and Canyon

Pronounced Ma-leen, meaning wicked, so we were told.

Read and see more photos here…or just check out these:

We had heard about the “bus hotel,” and got to see it in the parking lot.  The other side has an awning that pulls out to shade the cooking section below (sleeps, seats, and feeds 26):

I’ll take my own coach instead, thankyouverymuch!  We once saw a rally sign that states:

Motorhomes

Cocktails for 6

Dinner for 4

Sleeps 2

Having fun in Jasper.  We are heading to the icefields tomorrow…brrr…

Fancy hotel, dinner and a show

Yesterday, we had about a two-hour tour of Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel by a lad in plaid.  We saw and learned a lot.

Starting in 1911, a wholly new structure was built in stages to replace the 1888 hotel. The original Shingle style-influenced wooden structure was replaced with a new building of concrete and faced with stone, and now insulated for year-round use.  It is beautiful, but a tad pricey to stay here:P1230021

The gang thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and entertainment of “Oh Canada Eh.”

Today is our last day in Banff, so we are soaking up some more of this beautiful scenery…at a higher elevation.

Having a fine time.  WYWH, y’all!

Wednesday catch up

We have been mighty busy seeing new sights and a few old ones. Lake Louise was still frozen when we were here two years ago in May. It was sunny and beautiful yesterday, revealing all its splendid beauty. The iPad photo I took doesn't do it justice. Oh well...will have to post a good one later.

Everyone has a free morning today, ahead of a busy afternoon of a tour of Banff Springs Hotel! And then something VERY special tonight...supper and entertainment. Oh boy!

Happy anniversary to Haley and Logan....yesterday. Love you both...and remember that y'all honeymooned here. You need to come back and bring the girls.

The adventure continues. And all is well.

Hugs from the Banff library!
