Monday on the move

While we are rolling to our new destination, check out where the group went yesterday:

MM especially liked the Gasoline Alley section:

We could have spent ALL day here, there were so many areas to check out.  If you are ever in the Calgary area, this is a must see.  There is even an amusement section for kids…of all ages.

We are going to a provincial park in Banff for a few days, so there will be NO convenient internet.  We plan to find a signal in town, so I will post as able.

Thanks for all the anniversary good wishes.  We had a great day.

Life is good, y’all!

My sweetie

Happy anniversary, honey!  Still love ya after all these years (46…and counting)…

He is a handy guy to have around:

Yep, had to replace brake pads yesterday on this wheel, but it was no big deal for my guy.  He needed a shower, cold drink, and a nap afterward.  Check.

Then we went to back to the Stampede and toured the Indian Village before going to the awesome evening show.  Go read about that one!P1220663

Have yourselves a ginger peachy day.  We sure will!  MM, I’m renewing our contract for another year.  It’s been a great ride…so far.

Parade and a rodeo!

We enjoyed an awesome parade in downtown Calgary yesterday…for two hours…and they had a little bit of everything in the parade.  Here are a few photos not posted on the caravan blog:

This one is for our wee boys:

They would have loved the whole parade, but maybe not the length of it.

The rodeo was interesting and we were glad that we got to see it, but I am not pining to sit through another live one.  TV…yes.  Live…not unless I know the contestants.  Maybe I am getting old, huh?

MM had to tinker with one of our A/C units last night.  One of our guys lost an A/C cover, but he found a replacement, and has gotten it installed.  There is always something that needs fixing or tweaking on these rigs.  I’m glad MM has the know how to git-er-done.

Hope everyone had a fun Independence Day.  What did y’all do?

Have a great weekend.  We sure will.  Rolling tomorrow.

Independence Day

God Bless America

It feels strange to be in a “foreign” country on our major national holiday, but it is OK.  We are in very friendly territory.  We happily celebrated Canada Day recently, and there is something very special planned for today that we will claim for our own celebration.

We are all going to the famous Calgary Stampede and Parade, which promises to be a fabulous, family event.  Can’t wait!  We are outta here at 7a—that is the bad news, plus we won’t be back to the CG till late.  We shall manage.  I have camera batteries charged, water bottles, hat, snacks, jacket…what am I missing???

I hope all of you have a safe and memorable weekend, wherever you are, giving thanks for our freedom.

My country, tis of thee

Drumheller Hoodoos and other interesting places

We’ve been busy!  And are on the move today to another CG.

More miles; more smiles.  Loving the adventure!

Canada Day stuff

We all had a really good day, touring the area, seeing the local Badlands, even crossing a river by ferry!  All four cars loaded on the ferry with room to spare:

Our grandchildren would have loved the Royal Tyrrell Museum.  It is filled with dinosaurs, plenty of interactive displays for kids of all ages, and videos of how the earth and its critters have evolved (and gone extinct) over billions of years.  Good stuff!  We all enjoyed it.

Go check out our activities here.  Our internet is slow here at the CG (there is a recurring theme, it seems), but at least it is mostly working.

Today is another busy.  Two other ladies and I are in charge of our heavy hors d’oeuvres dinner tonight.  We went to a local market and ordered pizza and fried chicken with the trimmings to be picked up at 5ish.  No problem!

Having fun in Alberta!

Tuesday stuff

This was the view from our moho as we traveled from Hillspring up to Drumheller yesterday…in the wind…and more wind:

P1220141

Not too shabby a view!

Kathy ordered Root Beer Wings for an appetizer to share with the table before dinner (finally) arrived at the Irish pub, and Moho Man really liked them!  They were actually pretty good, because they didn’t taste like root beer (yuck!).

P1220148

A brief stop by the infamous Wally World for milk for us and a couple of items for Art and Rita was our chore before returning to the coach.  MM waited outside for us to finish up:

Have I mentioned how much he likes his iPhone?  His data roaming is shut off, but Solitaire still works, no matter where he is, so he can entertain himself really well, bless his heart.

Bears Sunday; dinosaurs today.  That’s what the rumor is.  Should we be afraid?

Happy Canada Day to all our Canadian friends…and all the strangers around us here in Alberta.

Life is good, y’all!
