Not so Alone!

Alan Day

I was thrilled to actually meet the guy who won the new “Alone” survival series on the History Channel this past spring…Alan Kay, a local corrections officer and teacher of survival skills.  And nice guy!

He is sooo gracious with all the folks stopping and talking with him, photographing him, (annoying him).  I wasn’t gonna be one of those, but he and I wound up being alone in the corner of the store…and I knew the clerk who came over to help him…and the pull was just too great NOT to say HI, and what the heck, get a dang photo with him to prove it…so I gave the gal my phone and she pushed the button.  Sorry for the blur, but who cares!

Of course I had several questions I wanted to ask him about the show, but I resisted.  Poor thang was just trying to buy his wife (or mother) a Christmas present…and he made a good choice, BTW.  I’m sure he would much rather have been out in the woods, rather than shopping, but there he was and the opportunity presented itself.  MM highly respects this guy from watching the series, so I promptly texted the photo to him, bless his heart, since he wasn’t there to meet Alan.  MM texted back “rub it in.”  It’s a small town, so MM will probably run into him somewhere or other in the future…but he wouldn’t bother with a photo, much less a hug!  Lucky me to get that hug.

We are a lucky community to have such a fine, young man to be such a good role model for our kids.  Alan is touching lots of lives, here and all around the world through this instant fame.  May he continue to do well.

At 28 outside, I see frost on MM’s truck parked out in the driveway.  By comparison, our expected 58 high today sounds balmy, but still not flip flop weather!  Brrr…when can we head south???

Life is good, y’all!

The price of fame in a small town! If he lived in a big city he wouldn't have any privacy at all.

Of course, you realize I have not a single clue who he is. :) But good for you and your serendipity! And good for him for being gracious with his fans and fellow townsfolk.

Stay warm. We didn't get as cold as you but our high is about the same as yours. And me no likey.

big hugs xoxo

I didn't have a clue about this fine young man either, but I'm happy you got a hug and a photograph of your meeting.

Have a fabulous day and weekend honey. Big hugs to you and tons of scritches to the babies. ♥♥♥
