Sorghum Festival and other stuff

So after leaving the Apple Festival, next up was the annual Sorghum Festival.  I think this is year 42 for it I read somewhere.  Hmmm, we should have started here instead of the BIG Apple Festival.  Even without the comparison, this particular festival is definitely not what it used to be…very few vendors this year, but that is what happens when the country’s economy is so down.

Vendors need to get the most bang for their buck, so the small towns are losing all around…fewer vendors, fewer tourists spending money.  But that pole climbing event is always fun to watch, as is people watching.P1020288

The kids had plenty of opportunities to have fun:P1020291

These three needed to clean their hands after playing at the petting zoo.  Hey, sweet girls!P1020292

Sandee wondered about that pumpkin smashing.  Well, I have never seen it done, but apparently folks like to watch things splatter and this is an annual tradition over there.  I’ll bet that fat punkin will make a BIG mess when it is dropped from about 100’ up in the air!  No thank you.  Some things are best seen on TV and not in person (and NOT splattered upon, y’all!).

So now it is Monday.  The suitcases are out.  I am cleaning off my desk, doing laundry, making lists.  Oh what a week this will be!  Stay tuned.

It's fun to see in the background the colors of fall.

I've done so many festivals over the years and they all started looking the same. The only thing I still enjoy about them is browsing the craft booths.

11 days to cruising! Woohoo!

Thanks for explaining. I understand completely now. That would be fun to watch from a distance.

I'm going on your cruise with you and MM. Just saying. I truly wish we were sharing this trip together. How fun would that be.

Have a terrific day. Big hugs honey. :)
