Plants, planting and decadence...

Dick has spent the last two days digging lots of holes and planting a variety of 'stuff'....rhododendrons, azaleas, butterfly bushes...

Lots of juniper...dwarf holly plants...
an 8' Nellie Stevens holly tree...

some purple verbena, and vinca...lush NEXT year hopefully, but puny looking right now...
Dick's a great, hard-working guy....I think I'll keep him...!
He got hosed off , and then we met Jim and Janet to try out a nearby Italian restaurant (very good...we'll go back). Janet promised dessert at their house...this box of decadence was sent to her by her sweet son. These are chocolate covered strawberries...and they were DIVINE...along with the Bailey's. What a fine ending to a beautiful day here in Mayberry. Yes, dear, you get a back rub tonight...you've earned it!

The Living Will...happy dance!

Maxine...ya gotta love her, bless her heart!

Last night, my sister and I were sitting in the den and I said to her, 'I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle to keep me alive. That would be no quality of life at all. If that ever happens, just pull the plug.'

So she got up, unplugged the computer, and threw out my wine. She's such a bitch.

Happy dance Friday!

It's Friday, so I'm doing a happy dance here...we bought a tree, a bunch of plants, and a few flowers and are putting them in the ground today, since we ran out of time yesterday afternoon. Stay tuned for pictures of all this work! And tonight we are going out for pasta with Jim and Janet. In the meantime, here is something to maybe make y'all laugh:

During a commercial airline flight a Navy Pilot was seated next to a young mother with a baby in arms. When her baby began crying during the descent for landing, the mother began nursing her infant as discreetly as possible. The pilot pretended not to notice and, upon debarking, he gallantly offered his assistance to help with the various baby-related articles. When the young mother expressed her gratitude, the pilot responded, 'Gosh, that's a good looking baby...and he sure was hungry!' Somewhat embarrassed, the mother explained that her pediatrician said breast feeding would help alleviate the pressure in the baby's ears. The Navy Pilot sadly shook his head, and in true pilot fashion exclaimed........ 'And all these years I've been chewing gum.’
Have a good weekend, y'all.

Never underestimate your kids...

The only way to pull off a Sunday afternoon quickie with their 8 year-old son in the apartment was to send him out on the balcony with a Popsicle and tell him to report on all the neighborhood activities. He began his commentary as his parents put their plan into Operation.

'There's a car being towed from the parking lot,' he shouted.
A few moments passed ... 'An ambulance just drove by.'
A few moments later, ' Looks like the Anderson's have company,' he called out.
'Matt's riding a new bike.....'
A few moments later, 'Looks like the Sanders are moving.'
'Jason is on his skate board....'
A few more moments, 'The Coopers are having sex!!!'

Startled, his Mother and Dad shot up in bed! Dad cautiously called out, 'How do you know they are having sex?'

'Jimmy Cooper is standing on his balcony with a Popsicle, too.'

Scrappin' fun!

Our class did a two-page, 12x12 lay out Sunday afternoon. Here is the L page:

And this is the R side...they'll both look much better when I get some spring pictures of 3 cute kids on them...and when they are in an album, rather than lying on the carpet...:
And in honor of our preggars daughter, here is a family funny:
It was 6 p.m., and I was about to leave the coin laundry where I was employed. My boss called me over and asked if I would mind dropping off someone's laundry on my way home. "It's for my cousin," she apologized, "who's eight months pregnant and can't get out much anymore." I cheerfully agreed and, driving to the address, knocked at the door. A little girl, the sister-to-be, answered.

"Hi, there," I said with a big smile. "Is your mommy home?" Holding up the white bundle of clothes, I explained, "I have a delivery for her."

The child's mouth dropped, and her eyes went wide. "Mom!" She shrieked, "come quick! It's the stork!"

Monday...Cinco de Mayo!

This has been around, but is cute and so I'll apologize ahead of time cuz it did make me grin...

Most people don't know that back in 1912, Hellmann's mayonnaise was manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New York. This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise ever delivered to Mexico. But as we know, the great ship did not make it to New York. The ship hit an iceberg and sank, and the cargo was forever lost. The people of Mexico, who were crazy about mayonnaise, and were eagerly awaiting its delivery, were disconsolate at the loss. Their anguish was so great, that they declared a National Day of Mourning, which they still observe to this day. The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th and is known, of course, as Sinko de Mayo.

Lighten up y'all...quit groaning...happy Monday! Go do something for fun today!
